Chief Executive Officer
Following a strategic pause to reset the organisation with the help of an interim senior management team, we are now ready to recruit our long-term Chief Executive Officer.
Self Help UK (SHUK) provides holistic support and knowledge via close interaction with local communities, peer groups and volunteers to a) prevent long-term health conditions and b) help those with existing conditions to feel more confident, informed and supported in navigating their health journey in a way that works best for them.

Role – Cancer Early Diagnosis Coordinator x 2
Self Help UK, in partnership with NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB and the East Midlands Cancer Alliance, is launching an innovative programme to improve early cancer diagnosis and tackle the significant health inequalities affecting communities across Nottingham.
We are seeking passionate and community‑focused individuals to join us as Cancer Early Diagnosis Coordinators. In this vital role, you will deliver personalised outreach, raise awareness of cancer signs and symptoms, and support people to overcome barriers to screening — with a particular focus on underserved and marginalised communities. Your work will directly contribute to the NHS Long-Term Plan ambition for 75% of cancers to be diagnosed at Stage 1 or 2 by 2028.

Macmillan Beyond Diagnosis Service: Cancer Support Coordinator x 2
The Macmillan Beyond Diagnosis Service supports people living with and beyond cancer across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire by addressing their non clinical, or “beyond medicine,” needs. Delivered through a partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support, Self Help UK, and the Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System, the service ensures individuals can access holistic, personalised support that complements their medical care.
As a Cancer Support Coordinator, you will work directly with individuals referred to the service, helping them identify their needs and access meaningful support. You’ll build strong relationships with partners, develop referral pathways, support volunteers, and contribute to the continued growth and impact of this highly valued programme.

Macmillan Beyond Diagnosis Community Outreach Worker
Self Help UK is seeking a motivated and compassionate Community Outreach Worker to support the delivery and promotion of the Macmillan Beyond Diagnosis Service and our wider cancer‑focused programmes, including the NUH Prehabilitation Service and Cancer Early Diagnosis Project.
This role plays a vital part in addressing health inequalities, increasing access to cancer support, and ensuring underserved communities across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are informed, engaged and represented.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver inclusive outreach plans targeting communities facing health inequalities
- Build relationships with voluntary groups, PCNs, ICS partners and local health organisations
- Design and run workshops, drop‑ins, awareness sessions and roadshows
- Create culturally appropriate materials and digital engagement content
- Capture data, community insights and feedback to shape future services
- Support co‑production activities that amplify community voice
- Represent Self Help UK at community events, meetings and forums
