Volunteer testimonials

“It’s nice to feel part of a volunteering family and know that advice and support is only a phone call away. Feels like a safe, supported way to volunteer. Very rewarding to build relationships with our service users. I have also learnt a lot about cancer treatments and side effects as well as the impact the diagnosis has on the whole family.” – Kathryn, Beyond Diagnosis Volunteer, Hucknall.

“It makes me feel like I am giving something back to someone who is experiencing a tricky time, it helps me to re-evaluate my own life and things that I worry about – often realising that I am actually very lucky, which has a positive effect on my own health and emotional wellbeing.” – Tracey, 53, Beyond Diagnosis Volunteer, North Nottinghamshire.

“I enjoy feeling part of a group of people who are like minded and want to give up their time to support others at a time when they are in need. The events where we all get together are particularly inspiring. I feel a sense of purpose when I volunteer, being useful to someone, and making a positive difference to how they are feeling.” – Charmian, 67, Beyond Diagnosis Volunteer, Tollerton.

“It has further improved my confidence in talking to people from different backgrounds with different life experiences.” – Jenny, 73, Beyond Diagnosis Volunteer, Ruddington.
