Who we are

Our team are passionate about improving the lives of people in our community. We are dedicated to helping people to help themselves and have the local knowledge and national reach that enables us to provide the right support, no matter what your needs.

Our Board Of Trustees

Self Help UK is governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board is responsible for the governance and strategic direction of the organisation and hold legal liability. It defines the long term direction for Self Help UK. Furthering its objects or purposes as set out in its governing document makes sure that Self Help UK is effectively and properly run with legal and other obligations met.

Our governing document allows us to have between 3 and 12 trustees – currently we have 5 trustees. The Board has established 3 sub committees to enable more focused discussion and work:

  • Finance Committee
  • HR and health and safety Committee
  • Performance Committee

Each Committee is led by a trustee, with other members coming from the wider trustee body, professional support functions and the senior management team of Self Help UK. The committees are not decision making and report directly to the Board.

Nina Ennis

Nina retired from the NHS in the summer of 2021. Having trained as an Occupational Therapist, after some years of clinical practice she moved into management. She worked in many areas within the NHS including acute services, mental health services and commissioning. She held several senior posts including CEO of Derbyshire Dales and South Derbyshire PCT, and a number of Programme Director roles. Since retirement Nina has taken on some voluntary roles. She enjoys walking, cooking and reading, as well as spending time with her family. Nina lives in South Derbyshire.
