We are delighted that after a successful recruitment drive, we are able to welcome Ben, Meena, Sonia and Mohammed as Trustees for Self Help UK.
Ian Boyd, Self Help UK CEO says:
“We are thrilled to welcome our new cohort of trustees to Self Help UK! Trustees play a crucial role in guiding the governance and strategic direction of any charity, and their contributions are invaluable. As we finalise our newly refreshed charity strategy, we are excited to embrace the fresh ideas, diverse skills, and wealth of experience our new trustees bring. Their insights will be instrumental in shaping and driving our future plans. We extend our sincere gratitude for their support and look forward to working together to make Self Help UK as impactful, effective, and sustainably strong as possible.”
For National Student Volunteering Week 10-16 February 2025, we hear from one of our new Trustees Ben Davison – an undergraduate student currently studying at the University of Cambridge. Ben tells us why he joined our Board and what he’s excited about bringing to the role:
“Since starting university, I’ve been in charge of fundraising for numerous student-run charities and gained experience in planning and executing large-scale events catering for a range of age demographics. Most recently, I’ve been appointed as the president of one of the infamous Cambridge May Balls, where I will be in charge of managing and delivering a high-budget event for over 2000 people. Prior to joining Self-Help UK, I volunteered for numerous healthcare-related charities across the UK and Canada.
I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Board of Trustees at Self Help UK as I am looking forward to providing a young persons perspective on a host of issues. Since starting university I have been inspired by the work which young adults are willing and able to do for the charitable sector and I am very excited to capitalise on this to increase engagement in Self Help UK. Having experience in fundraising for multiple charities during my time at university, I am excited to use this experience to enhance the fundraising efforts done by Self Help UK.”
